Joanita Kawalya born may 1st 1967 (50) is a Ugandan musician and activist.
Joanitah is a member of the Afrigo Band, the longest-lasting musical band in Uganda, which has been in continuous existence since 1975.
Joanita joined Afrigo Band in 1986 when she was sixteen-year-old, replacing her sister, Margaret, also a vocalist who was leaving for Germany.
On personal side I’ve always been a big fan of Afrigo Band and Joanita Kawalya in particular while growing up so whenever I get an opportunity to shoot legends like this one I try to give it my best shot to capture some moments that can reveal some of their hidden personalities and shots that will last forever!
Using a zoom lens I was able to capture some of these moments as she performed last Thursday at Comedy Store Uganda
This is my take on nude (art) photography since I’ve recently seen some nude work being criticized recently on different social media platforms in Uganda!
Nude art is another form of photography used to express ideals of male and female beauty and other human qualities.
For example athletes, dancers, and warriors are depicted to express human energy and life, and nudes in various poses may express basic or complex emotions such as pathos.
In one sense, a nude is a work of fine art that has as its primary subject the unclothed human body, forming a subject genre of art, in the same way as landscapes and still life. Unclothed figures often also play a part in other types of art, such as history painting, including allegorical and religious art, portraiture, or the decorative arts.
Sometimes people misinterpret nude photography as pornographic material rather than art something that is wrong especially when the story behind the photograph is misunderstood. This is due to the fact that pictures often tend to look more realistic than sculptures or paintings or any other forms of nude art work!
Dear reader, I welcome you to my first ever blog that will feature most of my work including behind the scenes, interviews from my beloved clients and my own personal experience during the photo-shoots.
I am privileged to have my first ever blog post featuring this beautiful young lady called Sasha whom I met for the first time at her birthday dinner venue. Sasha connected with me through her sister who got my contact from my Instagram account because of her interest in my photography work. I was privileged and happy to shoot her birthday dinner because it was full of happy young people that were smartly dressed and very friendly to connect with.
Meeting friendly clients is in fact every photographer’s dream because friendly clients make it easy for a photographer to pose and direct them right to achieve great results. Meanwhile this dinner was hosted at Nanjing Hotel in Kampala which is beautifully decorated and this gave me an opportunity to capture these beautiful moments.
